“Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; let those who love Your salvation continually say, “God is great! ” I am afflicted and needy; hurry to me, God. You are my help and my deliverer; Lord, do not delay.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭70:4-5‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

When was the last time you did NOT bring a request before God because you thought it too small compared with all the worse problems others are dealing with? It is a privilege to be able to bring our requests to the God of the universe, and we do so with praise and a heart of gratitude. Our creator wants us to come to Him with the problems and issues. He’s big enough to sift through the fluff we present in feeble blubbering to the heart to discern our needs better than ourselves; He even knows our needs before we bring them to Him. He longs for connection with us through our prayers and gladly receives them. His answers are often different from what we expect since He knows the true needs better than we ourselves do, and the results are always spot on.🚦

“These people are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.””

‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭2:17-19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Have you seen evil people described in these scriptures? Keep your eyes peeled for the vultures who prey on hurting people. It will seem innocent at first as they identify the vulnerable places of the heart. Then these rats entice the weak into a slavery of degradation with the promise of worldly goods, friends, sensual pleasures and happiness. Guard your hearts, friends, as you might be that delicate, exhausted person looking for something sin cannot deliver. 🚦

“Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭73:25‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This morning I heard Pastor David Jeremiah speaking about heaven and why he preaches so much from prophecy. All day I’ve chewed on what he said: “Become like the place you want to go, and be the person you most want to see.”

I want to go to heaven, and when I think of heaven I think of joy and shelter, peace and safety. The person I most want to see is Jesus. When I think of Jesus I think of heaven. As I put this all together I realize I want to be that person who is a place of joy, shelter, peace, and safety. I know I’ve got a long way to travel on this journey, but I thank you for sojourning on this adventure with me as we grow in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self control in our quest to be more like Him.🚦

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

For those who wait longingly for heaven, it may feel as if God is taking His sweet time in sending Jesus to return. Will it really happen? Of course, God has a completely different view of time from me and you. He’s in no hurry. Far more important to Him than hastening that day of reckoning is giving people time to hear the gospel and receive it so that they, too, can join with us in heaven. Do you know someone who still needs to hear the good news? Are you sharing with your life?🚦

“Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts. Make us rejoice for as many days as You have humbled us, for as many years as we have seen adversity.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭90:12, 15‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“Slowly flow the days…swiftly fly the years,” was the message I sang at a wedding years ago, lines from “Sunrise, Sunset” from “Fiddler On The Roof.” How many times have you heard yourself talking about the day dragging only to later look at photos of days gone by and comment on how time flies?

What would change if you practiced living in the moment you have NOW rather than getting by, waiting impatiently for it to pass? God wants us to find the joy in the middle of our mess. Right here. Right now. Not after you lose ten pounds, the bills are paid off, your health is better. During your hardest season ever seek Him with all your heart, and you WILL find joy. 🚦

“I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous!”

‭‭John‬ ‭14:27‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Peace. Even when a semblance of peace is achieved in one part of the world, another region wields out of control, with terrorists murdering those who refuse to profess faith in their god. This kind of peace is fragile at best.

The peace Jesus gives is not a walking-on-eggshells kind of peace. It’s a gritty, tough-as-nails type of peace that is meant to go the long haul. Jesus peace has the gumption to keep pressing forward when others might sink because it is anchored in the Solid Rock of His love. Do you know this peace?🚦

“When pride comes, disgrace follows, but with humility comes wisdom.”

Proverbs 11:2 HCSB

Many of the stories I read in my grade school reading books had a moral lesson at the end. I remember well learning, “Pride comes before downfall” but it was only through far too many episodes of selfish pride interfering with good judgment that I internalized the message. How long before you humble yourself to admit you made a mistake? Or that you need professional help to get through a rough season? Or that you do not have the mental or physical energy to commit to yet another committee, volunteer assignment, or ministry opportunity?🚦

“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.””

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭30:19-20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

God loves each and every one of us and desires relationship with each and every one. He is a holy, righteous God who cannot look upon sin, so He made a provision for our restitution through Jesus. Those who choose to follow after and obey will find true life both in eternity and here in earth. However, God loves us too much to force himself on us. We each have a choice whether or not to follow Him. Will you choose life, or will you choose death? Not choosing is a choice. Please, choose life. 🚦

“For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:”

‭‭ ‭

‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭2:3‬, Isaiah‬ ‭40:31‬, Lamentations‬ ‭3:25‬ , Psalms‬ ‭27:14, Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:1‬ ESV‬‬

Timing is everything. Have you ever listened to a symphony play one of Beethovens concertos? Every movement is perfectly timed for a beautiful execution. What if the conductor bowed to the whim of a violinist who felt their solo so important it simply must be moved to the first of the performance? The result would be cacophony. Each instrument play at exactly the right time to create a masterpiece.

God is orchestrating the greatest masterpiece of all time. His timing is perfect—never too early and never too late. Wait patiently for Him and sing praises to Him. The wait is worth it.🚦

“Who is wise and has understanding among you? He should show his works by good conduct with wisdom’s gentleness.”

James 3:13 HCSB

Dear soul, are you going through a difficult season? Many of us try to “power through” these times, demanding unrealistic performance, both personally and professionally. The wise one understands there is a time for plowing ahead, but there is also a time for retreating for reflection, restoration and renewal. During these times be gentle with yourself, just as you would with someone else. Expect less of yourself. Show kindness and understanding by spending quality time with God in solitude so that He can speak healing into your hurting heart. Be at rest.🚦
