“He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.”~ Psalm 62:6-8 NLT

What do you hope for? What do you wait for, expecting in earnest to receive? Hope placed in the temporal—that which you can see, touch, and feel—is on shaky ground. Set your heart longing for that which is eternal—God alone—because He alone never changes.

“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” ~ Psalm 42:5 NIV🚦

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:23-24 KJV

Grubs burrow 4-6” deep into soil. They eat at the roots of plants, such that grass or flowers still look healthy on top while being killed from the roots. One day I was gardening in my front flower bed I came across six of these nasty creatures, one at a time. I didn’t go digging for grubs, mind you. I was planting a lovely border along my front walkway, and as I dug deeper to loosen the soil to give the roots of my new liriope border space to grow, I unearthed those nasty grubs.

God’s Word is like that; as we study it and meditate on it even the deepest embedded sin that is burrowing underneath and eating away at us, gets exposed and brought to light. What is God wanting to expose in you today?🚦

“Not one of those who saw my glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness but who disobeyed me and tested me ten times— not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors.”

‭‭Numbers‬ ‭14:22-23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Think back to a time God displayed His glory to you by providing for your need, by giving you supernatural peace in the midst of one of life’s storms, or maybe by protecting you or your family. Our Heavenly Father gives many signs of His presence to us, but we may miss those if we are not viewing our world through spiritual lenses. Are you watching and listening for His voice? Are you anchored in Him such that you are following His voice? Be sure you don’t miss out on receiving His promises because you didn’t love stem and obey.🚦

“Some take pride in chariots, and others in horses, but we take pride in the name of Yahweh our God.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭20:7‬ ‭.

Who doesn’t get excited when something great happens? We enthusiastically tell people about our amazing vacations or children’s successes or promotions at work. Today I challenge you to share with someone about God’s goodness or faithfulness in your life—some way in which He has guided you, comforted you, or in some other way made His presence personally evident to you. 🚦

“I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I was saved from my enemies…The ropes of death were wrapped around me; the torrents of destruction terrified me. The ropes of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. I called to the Lord in my distress, and I cried to my God for help. From His temple He heard my voice, and my cry to Him reached His ears…He reached down from heaven and took hold of me; He pulled me out of deep waters…Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the sheep under His care.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭18:3-6, 16‬, 95:6-7‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Give to God the glory and honor due Him this day. Come before Him with focused intention as you praise Our Lord who has shown us great mercy and faithfulness. As He laid down his life for you, will you place on the altar your dreams, your goals and aspirations to find out if they are the dreams, goals and aspirations He has for you? The Shepherd wants only the best for the people of His pasture.🚦

No weapon formed against you will succeed, and you will refute any accusation raised against you in court. This is the heritage of the Lord’s servants, and their righteousness is from Me.” This is the Lord ’s declaration.

Isaiah 54:17 NASB

Ever felt like you were being hit on all sides by fiery darts that tell you “You aren’t good enough,” or “You can not overcome your past”? Take heart in knowing you are in good company with the ancient saints! For the Christ follower those false accusers don’t stand a chance because you have been made whole and righteous and worthy through Christ’s shed blood. This is your spiritual inheritance. 🚦

“The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in earthen furnace, purified seven times.”

Psalm 12:6 HCSB

David was living in a generation of deceivers, liars and people filled with pride. In an age of prolific social media presence you may have seen plenty of this yourself. Where can we turn in times of despair for solace that is true? The answer is found in the same place we take shelter from life’s storms—God’s Word. May our own words today be pure, refined by fire, and point others to Him and to His Word.🚦

“Therefore tell the Israelites: I am Yahweh, and I will deliver you from the forced labor of the Egyptians and free you from slavery to them. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and great acts of judgment. I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. You will know that I am Yahweh your God, who delivered you from the forced labor of the Egyptians. I will bring you to the land that I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you as a possession. I am Yahweh.”

Exodus 6:6-8 HCSB

As you and I celebrate our freedom as Americans today, may we never forget our freedom through Christ. We are no longer slaves to the cravings which drive us to destructive behavior. God has already delivered those who place their trust in Him. The battle has been fought and won at the cross. Have you accepted that victory? Are you walking in it?🚦

“When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Our mouths were filled with laughter then, and our tongues with shouts of joy. Then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord had done great things for us; we were joyful. Restore our fortunes, Lord, like watercourses in the Negev. Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy. Though one goes along weeping, carrying the bag of seed, he will surely come back with shouts of joy, carrying his sheaves.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭126:1-6‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

There are some wonderful seasons of life when the sun seems more radiant, when the stars surely shine brighter. We hold fast to the generosity of God’s gifts given in ”good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over”(Luke 6:38) as we walk through other seasons of devastating loss. He reminds us of His faithfulness to walk with us through “the valley of the shadow of death” so that we do not have to live in fear of the evil all around us. His rod and his staff comfort us and provide us with the hope of restoration to full joy. My friend, do not let go of that hope; He is with you. 🚦

“As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.”

‭‭John‬ ‭17:18‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

God uses ordinary people like you and me to accomplish His extraordinary plan. Matthew was a tax collector, Luke a doctor, and Peter a fisherman. Are you thinking your past disqualifies you? Before he met Christ on the road to Damascus, the Apostle Paul was well-known as one who persecuted and murdered Christians! How does God want to use you?

“God found Gideon in in a hole. He found Joseph in a prison. He found Daniel in the Lions den. Next time you feel unqualified to be used by God remember this: He tends to recruit from the pit, not the pedestal.” Jon Acuff 🚦
