God speaking to Moses:

“And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3:9-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Moses was 80 years old when God called him to bring the Israelites out of captivity in Egypt. He’d had a full, eventful life, having grown up in Pharoah’s household then later fleeing after he’d killed one of the Egyptians who was beating a fellow Hebrew (Ex 2:11-12). He knew he was not without sin, and his own fallibility must have slammed him in the face every day. Yet, somehow, God chose Moses to lead His chosen people.

Has God called YOU to do something you don’t feel at all qualified to do? Does it seem the timing is all wrong? We easily find ourselves projecting our limited human logic onto the infinite God whose plan reaches beyond time and is not hindered by our mortal constraints. Trust the One whose resume of accomplishments is unparalleled. He’s got this.🚦

“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel – which is really no gospel at all.“

Galatians 1:6 NIV

While still babes in the faith the new believers at Galatia were thrown into confusion by teaching which was a perversion of the Gospel of Christ. How is it that after being set free from the burden of sin and the rules of legalism we are so quick to jump back into belief patterns which tell us salvation is really a combo deal of Jesus PLUS my works?

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:1‬ ‭NIV

Isn’t it time to let go of the chains that bind you and be truly free in Christ?🚦‬‬

“Tell Archippus: See to it that you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord.”

Colossians 4:17 NIV

It’s always exciting to start a new project, to begin building something new, knowing the end result will be the betterment of something. However, midway through said project we find ourselves frustrated with tedious tasks and issues which have no simple solution. Paul challenges us to keep focused on the prize to complete the ministry given by God. All the nitty-gritty details, relationship struggles and seemingly impossible problems are part of the mix The Father knew about when He gave you the mission. He’s there in the middle with you.🚦

Epaphroditus, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.”

Colossians 4:12 NIV

If I’m honest, there have only been little more than a handful of times I’ve “wrestled in prayer” about anything, and it was always regarding an urgent situation. Epaphroditus did this all the time out of concern for new believers to hold onto faith and not waiver, and he continued in these prayers for Christ followers to grow into maturity of faith. While our prayers for life and death, urgent situations are certainly heard by God, we should be no less compelled to pray for the hearts and minds of our fellow saints to persist in pursuit of holiness.🚦

“And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.”

Colossians 4:3

The world would have me put on high heels and a red power-suit to manipulate doors into opening. God says, “Wait, and I will open the doors that are right for you and for My kingdom.” The doors we have to ramrod into accessibility were never ours to begin with.🚦

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Colossians 3:15 NIV

Peace is not something you and I can conjure up. We have to NOT try to control others and all circumstances but instead, with thankful hearts, trust the God of this universe to exercise His sovereignty in all our lives with the grace and mercy He demonstrated when He gave up His Son for us. Sit back and let God be God, and be glad you are not!🚦

“Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self. You are being renewed in knowledge according to the image of your Creator.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:9-10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

When we committed our lives to Christ you and I became new creations. However, we seem to battle with maintaining our new ”clothes”. Just as we have to be diligent with cleaning out our closets, we must also be intentional to set aside the old practices and to be purposeful in our walk with Christ. Renewal is an ongoing process of growing, a journey rather than a destination, and takes place as we commit time, heart and mind to knowing Him who created us and knows us best of all.

What are you doing consciously to grow in spiritual wisdom and knowledge?🚦

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:1-2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Stretch your left arm out in front as far as you can, and make a fist as a representation of your problems. Now take your right hand, and place palm toward you half the distance from and in front of your left hand. Look at the open hand, and you won’t see the fist of problems. This is what Jesus does for us when we focus our affection upon Him. May you set your mind on heaven today.🚦

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:6-8‬ aNIV‬‬

My husband continually feeds, waters and prunes our trees. Because of this, they are strong from root to stem, weather storms very well, and have not been so susceptible to the plight of diseases such as oak wilt. Likewise, you and I need to continually feed our hearts and minds with sound scriptural teaching which strengthens our faith and understanding of God so that our hearts are guarded against false teaching. When you know truth you can spot a lie. 🚦

“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:2-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What comes to mind when you think of “riches”? Expensive homes? Fancy cars? Healthy financial investments? Paul gives us another take on wealth: the wisdom and knowledge that comes from a complete understanding of the gospel of Christ. What kind of treasure are you storing up?🚦
