“I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.”
Philippians 4:2-3 NIV
If you’ve ever known a fellow believer you just could not get along with, someone you know loves Jesus and has many admirable qualities, but you can’t talk to them without some level of contention, you may sympathize with Euodia and Syntyche. These women worked shoulder-to-shoulder with Paul to share the gospel, but it seems they rubbed each other the wrong way. While we are not asked to be best friends with everyone who calls themselves Christian, we are called to be in unity of Spirit for the cause of Christ. Petty differences and disagreements can interfere with your personal or corporate witness and may give the devil a foothold. As we put one another before ourselves, and the cross before all, disparities fall aside.🚦
