“But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, because you did not trust me to show my Holiness in the sight of the Israelites you will not bring this assembly into the land I have given them.”
Numbers 20:12
As I dive into study of the book of Deuteronomy, Moses refers back to God’s anger toward Moses when Moses disobeyed God as he took his rod and struck the rock at the Wilderness of Zin instead of speaking to the rock, as God had instructed. For many years I thought this severe treatment unfair. I, myself, didn’t understand the seriousness of Moses’ disobedience to God, his lack of trust in God and his acting out in anger. The penalty was in direct proportion to what God expected of Moses. Moses lived a very privileged life, and God requires more of those with whom He has entrusted great power.
“When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.”
Luke 12:48
Each of us has been given a certain amount of privilege and power, whether or not we recognize it as such. What has God entrusted to you? Are you obedient in how you serve?🚦
