“Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH…
Ephesians 6:14a NASB
When I was a kid my mom would wear a girdle to flatten her tummy and smooth out all the bumps. Although they go by a different name these days, many still wear these supportive undergarments. The belt a Roman soldier wore underneath his 70+ pounds of armor was wrapped around his waist tightly to provide core support needed for carrying and moving about with such a heavy load on his body without collapsing.
Core support. This is exactly what the truth of God’s Word provides the Christian. Our minds need to be armed with the exactness of scripture to discern the enemy’s lies of right vs. almost right. The absolute truth of God’s promises about who He says He is and who we are in Him will brace us against Satan’s attack’s on our hearts and minds.
“Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You.”
