“Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 HCSB
When my sons were very young, only three and five years of age, the three of us flew to Washington DC for a two week trip to visit their Dad where he was working for the summer. Having never flown with children, I had no idea what I was in for trying to haul luggage through an airport to get to the shuttle to go to our hotel. The suitcase was heavy; the kids were tired, and I was just about at my end when someone saw us and offered to help.
Sometimes I find myself trying to haul a seventy five pound bag of emotional junk through the cavernous hallways of my mind, as well as to my workplace and on social outings. What a gift to recognize there is a better choice—Jesus. You and I can take our burdens and baggage to the altar where our Heavenly Father waits with arms open to hold us and love us and lift those heavy weights we were never meant to drag around. Cone to the altar. 🚦
