“Sing to Yahweh, praise His name; proclaim His salvation from day to day.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭96:2‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

On a day-to-day basis we are tempted to take salvation for granted. Let us never lose the wonder and joy of the new life found in Christ once we lay down the old life at the foot of the cross. Have you completely surrendered that old life? It’s a process we, in our fleshly desires to be independent of God, must repeat every single day.🚦

“I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,”

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭30:19‬ ‭NASB‬‬

When the Israelites we’re preparing to enter the Promised Land after 40 years in the wilderness, the Lord strongly cautioned His people to make the right choices of obedience and gratefulness throughout their seizing of Canaan, first promised to His chosen people 700 years prior. God had already demonstrated to them that faithfulness to worshipping Him lead to physical and spiritual life, and choosing to follow other gods and disobey His instructions leads to certain death.

Are the choices you make bringing life to your spirit? To your mind? To your health? To your relationships?🚦

“You must abide by the instruction they give you and the verdict they announce to you. Do not turn to the right or the left from the decision they declare to you. The person who acts arrogantly, refusing to listen either to the priest who stands there serving the Lord your God or to the judge, must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.”

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭17:11-12‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“Lala Lala Lala I can’t hear you!”

They don’t always say it out loud, but most of us have seen the smug expression (or given it ourselves) on someone who thinks they don’t need the counsel being given. This is never more evident than in a repeat offender, whether the offense is illegal or immoral or both, who tries to dictate the terms of rehabilitation.

Still, we ALL are criminals in our natural selves, born with hearts that do not have to be taught how to do wrong. Each of us must die to ourselves and to the old person inside us who battles each and every day for our souls if we truly desire to be freed from the tyranny of sin. Have you let Christ break the chains that bind you?🚦

“You must not move your neighbor’s boundary marker, established at the start in the inheritance you will receive in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess.”

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭19:14‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

OUT OF BOUNDS!

We enforce boundaries with our children and in our relationships with others, but we may try to gently sidestep the boundaries God puts in place for us. The lines God draws are a sort of perimeter that guide us and keep us from harm. He gives us each our individual journey to learn and to grow exactly as we need to. The Lord our God instructs us to not turn to the right or to the left to chase after the life someone else is living.

“The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭16:6‬ ‭HCSB‬‬🚦

My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.

Proverbs 3:21-26 NIV

May you and I walk in step with God all the days of our lives. 🚦

“You must be blameless before the Lord your God.”

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭18:13‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Blameless? Perfect? Yes, that’s right. That’s exactly what he is saying. But you and I can’t become perfect or blameless on our own. That is exactly why we needed a Savior. God loved us so much He sent His one and only Son who lived a perfect, sinless life then suffered a horrific death for us. Jesus took all our sin and nailed it to the cross, then he conquered it and rose again! Amen, hallelujah!🚦

“Therefore tell the Israelites: I am Yahweh, and I will deliver you from the forced labor of the Egyptians and free you from slavery to them.“

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭6:6‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Who or what are you in bondage to? Are you addicted to substances? Are you oppressed in a relationship? Are you enslaved by the escape you seek from shopping?

Deliverance does not always look the way we expect and try to dictate, but the Lord our God WILL deliver you with His mighty hand and outstretched arm. Seek Him and wait on Him.🚦

“As a deer longs for streams of water, so I long for You, God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, while all day long people say to me, “Where is your God? ”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭42:1-3 HCSB‬‬

Some days tears ARE all the food a body can stomach. The heart longs to end the suffering and turmoil and go be with God 24/7. You understand this too well, don’t you?

David certainly did. Paul also lived with these mixed emotions and spoke of it in a way that encourages us to keep leaning into God as we press on:

“For me, living is Christ and dying is gain. Now if I live on in the flesh, this means fruitful work for me; and I don’t know which one I should choose. I am pressured by both. I have the desire to depart and be with Christ — which is far better — but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for you.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1:21-24‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

So, just for today, no matter what each moment brings, let us move forward in the confidence “that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭HCSB‬‬🚦

“But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:22‬ ‭NIV‬‬

My first exposure to the word liberate came when I was in grade school and was directly associated with the women’s lib movement. I had never thought of “liberation” in terms of anyone being set free, but little did I realize this movement mirrored salvation in that it calls people to turn away from an old way of thinking and living. Christ came to set us free from the old, sinful way of doing things. Once we are set free from slavery to sin we are freed to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to all our friends, neighbors and even our enemies. In the process of telling the world about Jesus, we become more and more like Christ, aka “sanctified” or holy.

What are some of the things that have changed in you since you began following Christ? In what ways have you become more like him?🚦

“Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; let those who love Your salvation continually say, “God is great! ” I am afflicted and needy; hurry to me, God. You are my help and my deliverer; Lord, do not delay.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭70:4-5‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

When was the last time you did NOT bring a request before God because you thought it too small compared with all the worse problems others are dealing with? It is a privilege to be able to bring our requests to the God of the universe, and we do so with praise and a heart of gratitude. Our creator wants us to come to Him with the problems and issues. He’s big enough to sift through the fluff we present in feeble blubbering to the heart to discern our needs better than ourselves; He even knows our needs before we bring them to Him. He longs for connection with us through our prayers and gladly receives them. His answers are often different from what we expect since He knows the true needs better than we ourselves do, and the results are always spot on. 🚦
