“The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: ‘Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.”

‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭19:1-2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I confess most of my life I glossed over scriptures that said, “Be holy,” brushing these commands aside for those who are vocational ministers. However, God makes it crystal clear to Moses that ALL of us who follow after Christ are to be holy: “the entire assembly.” We are to set ourselves apart from the rest of the world not with crazy hair color or expensive clothes but by living lives of obedience to God through the power of The Holy Spirit.

What would look different in your life if you were seeking to be more like Him🚦

“On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. For seven days present a food offering to the Lord. And on the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.’ ””

‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭23:7-8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The Festival of Unleavened Bread is a special celebration commemorating God’s faithfulness in leading the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. On the first day all yeast is to be removed from the entire house, an opportunity to do a thorough spiritual inventory and confess sin. Each day a food offering is given to God to show gratitude for the gift of freedom in Christ. Gratefulness for our own rescue from slavery to sin and darkness is also the motivation to drive us each day as we offer up ourselves to God. Have you completely surrendered to Him today?🚦

“For God who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”

2 Corinthians 4:6, ‭‭John‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NASB‬‬

God doesn’t need us, but somehow He chooses to shine His light through us. Those walking in darkness cannot comprehend this light of joy. Keep shining light into every corner of darkness. Christ already fought the battle, and The Light wins! 🚦

You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

Psalm 32:7 NIV

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV

Sometimes God removes us from one situation, completely changing our course for reasons we cannot see or know. Faith is assuming God’s protection and good for our lives even when we cannot see the outcome. God always has a plan and a purpose far better than our own. He is faithful in His protection. To Him be the glory! 🚦

“His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.”

‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

How often have you panicked in challenging situations, wishing you had this quality or that ability to help you through? Leave that anxiety at the cross. The Holy Spirit supplies all we need through Christ who calls us to goodness. Have confidence in the power of the Holy Spirit in you to accomplish all He has set before you.🚦

“For many days neither sun nor stars appeared, and the severe storm kept raging. Finally all hope that we would be saved was disappearing.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭27:20‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

How many times have you felt this way? The hurricane just doesn’t let up, you feel you are drowning, and you lose hope. When you and I are at the end of ourselves, empty before God, He fills us with His hope and is the help we need. Seek shelter in Him.

“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.”

““And all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:5b HCSB‬

Each day as you pull on your shirt, slip your legs into your pants, “put on” humility as you take those moments to remember your position before God —a sinner saved by the grace provided by the blood shed by Christ on the cross for forgiveness of your sin. All you encounter need that same grace today. Go be the hands and feet of Jesus by putting others before yourself.🚦

“I am the Lord, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.”

‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭11:45‬ ‭NIV‬‬

All of us have been slaves to something—money, possessions, others’ opinions of us, image, drugs/alcohol, or _____________. God’s Word tells us we are freed from being run by our own selfish desires because Jesus set us free from bondage to sin. He freed you and me to live our lives as thank you notes to Him, pursuing lives of holiness-set apart and devoted to God-as we continually grow in faith.

“Holy” is mentioned in 64 verses in the book of Leviticus alone. Do you take this idea of holiness as seriously as God does? What does it mean to you to be holy?🚦

Sunday May 12, 2019 Mother’s Day

Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.

1 Thessalonians 2:7-8 NIV

Mothering is a wonderful, complicated, and often messy business of loving sacrifice and honoring duty. And it comes in many forms. The mom who gives gives up a flourishing career to stay home and raise kids, and it’s the mom who works tirelessly at her job while raising her family. It’s the daughter who nurtures her parents in their later years, passing up opportunities for pleasure and personal gain. And the mentor who raises up believers in faith, training them in the truths of God’s Word and how they apply to life. Its the mama of “bonus” children who became part of their lives through marriage. Many became mama to children they didn’t birth but chose to take them as their own flesh, and it is the birth mom who gave up her child to another for the sake of that baby. And it’s the mom whose heart longs to hold and nurture the child she has buried.

Today, let’s honor the best of our memories of our mothers and mentors who have laid down their lives to nurture us physically, financially, emotionally, and spiritually in different seasons of our lives. 🚦

“I know your works. Because you have limited strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name, look, I have placed before you an open door that no one is able to close.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Because you have limited strength??? Yes, those who appear most afflicted, who are least able in earthly eyes are often the ones keeping His Word. Others appear more vibrant and alive because of their physical health and independence yet spiritually are dead. His power is made perfect in our weakness not in our strength. Be not afraid when you see your physical or emotional self, once dynamic and energetic, lose abilities treasured by our world. He just may be making you, in your spirit, more like Him and giving you what no one can take away.🚦
